Dear St. Rose of Lima Community,
Hello! My name is Katelin Thomson and I recently graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York with a B.A. in Elementary Education. While teaching at St. Rose, I will be working towards receiving my Master's degree in Literacy from Providence College. Teaching has always been my passion, and I love to see my students reach their fullest potential.
This year in 4th grade we will be exploring many exciting topics in the following subjects: Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. 4th grade is a time of independent in-depth learning. Students will build upon their reading skills to make inferences and describe in depth a character, setting, or event in a story. Students will also demonstrate a command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. In Religion, we will focus on the Ten Commandments and how they help us to love others. In mathematics, we will focus on multiplication with multi-digit numbers, fractions, geometry, measurement, and many more thrilling topics! Our science curriculum is broken down into three components: life, earth, and physical science. In Social Studies, we will focus on the history of Rhode Island, as well as our states and regions!
I look forward to meeting the upcoming 4th graders! Enjoy the rest of your summer! :)
Sincerely,
Ms. Thomson
